A car that makes the combination of driving pleasure and daily practicality its true strength. Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50
The most powerful and fastest production Golf GTI to date, we said initially. Certainly, the fastest production front-wheel drive ever at the Nurburgring: Benjamin Leuchter completed a lap of the Nordschleife driving a Golf GTI Edition 50 with Performance Pack in 7:44.523 minutes. Record time. The numbers this model has collected over the years are also record-breaking: over 2.5 million units produced in half a century. An interesting fact: the first generation of the car was supposed to be built in 5,000 units, but given the enormous success it achieved, it reached 469,000 units. Not a few.
Exclusive Design
Even today, the Volkswagen Golf GTI stands out from the crowd. Even more so in the Edition 50 version. The exterior design is characterized by a series of exclusive details such as the roof spoiler with GTI 50 logo, black exhausts, black exterior mirror with GTI 50 logo, side stripes from black to Tornado Red, and 19″ Queenstown alloy wheels. As for the livery, five colors are available for the Edition 50, including Dark Moss Green Metallic, specific to this special edition.
Sporty Volkswagen Interior
Inside, we find the multi-function sports steering wheel with dark anodized optics, integrated shift paddles, decorative stitching and black details, GTI 50 logos, and, as an option, ArtVelours microfiber cover. But the cabin is not just the steering wheel. It also features sports seats, red seatbelts, decorative stitching in GTI red, a checkered pattern with red and green details, GTI 50 logo on the door sills, and steel pedals in red and silver.
Chassis and Suspension
The Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 proves to be an everyday sports car, and not a vehicle designed solely for the track. There are mechanical elements that play a fundamental role in corners and beyond, from the MacPherson front axle to the four-link rear axle, passing through Dynamic Chassis Control and the front differential lock. The work carried out by the German manufacturer on the chassis brings with it numerous advantages: the specific sporty tuning ensures neutral and agile handling, torque distribution is synonymous with high grip on the front axle, while progressive steering means greater precision when entering corners.

And there’s also the Performance Pack
We’ve already mentioned something about the engine. It’s a 2.0-liter TSI with 325 HP and 420 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The Performance Pack does not further increase these specifications, but adds a series of exclusive details that make the car even more appealing and sporty. Some examples? Special driving modes (Nurburgring above all), 19″ Warmenau forged wheels, reduced weight by 25 kilograms, R-Performance exhaust, and a 5 mm lower Performance chassis. The result translates into higher cornering speed, greater chassis precision, maximum acceleration out of corners, neutral balance, and maximum rotation.
Prices and Sales Estimates
The new Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 arrives on the market starting from 54,700 euros. Standard equipment includes, among other things, Dynamic Chassis Control, IQ.LIGHT LED Matrix headlights, 19″ “Queenstown” wheels, and darkened rear and side windows. Those who intend to purchase the car with the Performance Pack will face a surcharge of 4,320 euros. It is a limited but not numbered series. In Italy, Volkswagen expects to sell at least 250 units of the Golf GTI Edition 50.
