Tense nerves
The nightmare period for Maverick Vinales continues in Germany and the impression, from the outside, is that it is really difficult to imagine how the Spanish rider and the Tech3 team can continue to work together for another half of the season. After the harsh back and forth a few days ago between him and the team boss Gunther Steiner, Vinales in fact raised the stakes at the end of the Sachsenring race, which saw him sadly navigating in last position before retiring four laps from the end.

In the traditional post-race media scrum, speaking with Spanish journalists, Vinales again pointed the finger at his own team: “Right now I need the team’s support, but I only receive criticism – commented the Spanish rider, who had already clashed with his team during the last period of his Yamaha adventure – it is really difficult to go on because sometimes I feel joy, but other times I feel like a stranger. I don’t know if this is a solvable situation”. These last words seem to cast a shadow over the continuation of the #12’s season.

As if that were not enough, to slow Vinales down and further undermine his confidence there is a physical condition that appears very precarious: “I have no strength on the bike – he explained – I couldn’t help but open up in every corner. I’m trying to figure out what to do, but it’s very frustrating because I can’t ride at 100%, and as if that weren’t enough, the bike is not easy to ride. I don’t even know if it’s [a situation] that can be resolved. I have considered the idea of relying on Marc [Marquez]’s doctors – Vinales concluded – I expected to feel much better, but it’s true that the doctor who operated on me told me I won’t be fully healed before Indonesia. That’s not good for me. I don’t know what to do; I imagine I will spend the summer in Austria [with Red Bull] training”.
