The Ferrari pit wall executed the undercut on Verstappen, stopping Hamilton, who was excellent on the out-lap, overtaking Arvid Lindblad in the mixed section. Verstappen, however, after the pit stop, pulled off an anthology overtake in Turn 1 after both Hamilton and Verstappen had overtaken Liam Lawson on the straight.

Hamilton via radio apologized to the Ferrari pit wall: “Sorry if I lost the position, I didn’t expect it“, the honest words of the seven-time world champion who thus found himself back in Verstappen’s traffic with the consequent overheating of the tires.

Verstappen received compliments via radio from Gianpiero Lambiase and also ‘rubbed salt in the wound’ towards Hamilton, emphasizing that the Ferrari driver moved under braking.
