Ferrari, the stars and the stables
Surely it was a two-faced Ferrari that was seen in Canada, with Lewis Hamilton achieving the best result of his experience at Maranello – second under the checkered flag – and Charles Leclerc describing his weekend in Montreal as “the worst of his F1 career“, so low was his feeling with the car.
Frederic Vasseur will therefore have to manage the situation, although he did not seem too worried about Leclerc‘s morale: “In 10 days we will be in Monte Carlo and he won’t even remember that Canada existed“, he downplayed with a joke, as is his style.

Canadian competitiveness mystery
Frederic Vasseur, in his long analysis given to Canal +, admitted he was not quite clear why Ferrari was so competitive in Canada: “We expected to be much further behind. But it is also encouraging, there are some characteristics that we seem to manage better. I don’t know if it depends on the curbs or the somewhat cold temperatures, but we had a better weekend than expected.”
The team principal then wanted to encourage Leclerc: “When you find conditions like this, where everyone struggles to warm up the tires, it is essential to have confidence and this made the difference with Charles. But he has enough experience to analyze the situation on his own, he came here with doubts and fears because he has not always given his best in Montreal. When you are on the defensive you cannot attack and the situation becomes complicated. He got a bit trapped in this spiral“.
