A Sunday of regrets for Ferrari
Hungary was supposed to be a favorable track for Ferrari on paper, and the result of Friday’s free practice confirmed it. Hamilton and Leclerc had started the Budapest weekend with a one-two, but neither of them made it to the podium at the end of the GP.

From Q3 onwards, the Ferrari pit wall and Lewis Hamilton made a series of errors that led the seven-time world champion to finish as low as fifth, despite Piastri’s retirement and Russell being knocked out of the top-5 by a more than unhappy start.
Leclerc started on the front row, but found himself fifth at the end of the first lap and only gained a position in the final standings because Hamilton received a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.

Frederic Vasseur emphasized that in the Constructors’ standings, Ferrari still gained a point on Mercedes, but there can only be great regret for what was a great missed opportunity: “Today for the championship it’s not a disaster – said the team principal to Sky – we still scored more points than Mercedes and practically the same points as McLaren, but today we could have done much more and that’s a shame.”
