The return of a four-wheel legend
The famous Goodwood Festival of Speed will start tomorrow, an annual event in England that will allow true motor enthusiasts to see again some of the cars that have marked the history of motorsport. One of these will be the legendary sports prototype BMW V12 LMR, which in 1999 entered the hall of fame of both the 12 Hours of Sebring and, in particular, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in the latter case thanks to Joachim Winkelhock, Yannick Dalmas and Pierluigi Martini.
The announcement of the great return came directly from BMW’s official social channel, which published a short video showing the car leaving the Bavarian factory with a message: “The hill is calling, get ready for something strong. Very strong.”

Who will drive it?
Unlike the car that won at Le Mans in ’99, the one that will appear at Goodwood will have a matte black livery, Monster Energy sponsorship and, above all, an unmistakable #46. This means that, on Friday, July 10, it will be Valentino Rossi driving the V12 LMR, returning to Goodwood for the first time since 2015. On that occasion, the ‘Doctor’ appeared with the Yamaha M1, also driving cars such as the Lancia Delta S4 Group B, the Porsche 962 and the Mazda 787B.
