According to the report from the KBA, the German federal motor transport authority, Tesla registrations in Germany recorded surprising growth in March. We are talking about +315.1% year-on-year, with 9,252 new units registered. The quarterly figure is equally significant, with deliveries rising by 160% in the January-March period, reaching a total of 12,829 vehicles. This increase contributed significantly to the overall performance of the German electric market during the period, highlighting a recovery in demand for the US brand after months of contraction.

Not just Tesla. The Chinese manufacturer BYD also marked a strong expansion of sales in Germany, with a 327.1% increase in registrations in March, equal to 3,438 units, and a total of 9,120 vehicles in the first quarter. Overall, new registrations of battery electric vehicles in Germany grew by 66.2% in March, reaching 70,663 units.

BYD also doing well

The surge in sales for the US company in Germany comes after a period of difficulty for the brand in Europe, when its regional market share had almost halved in 2025 due to intensifying competition, a lack of major launches, and negative reactions from some consumers to the public positions of CEO Elon Musk. The recent increase in registrations in several key European markets suggests that Tesla is managing, at least temporarily, to regain ground.
