Two stages to modify the F1 regulations
During the Suzuka weekend, it was learned that Thursday, April 9 would be a key date for the future of F1. In fact, on that date, the important discussion on possible changes to be made to the 2026 regulations is scheduled. The April break is indeed the perfect opportunity to decide without too much haste on which aspects to intervene and with what timing. A line of thought shared by Ayao Komatsu, Haas team principal: “We are looking at the situation from every point of view, because when we make changes, we have to make the right ones. We cannot act impulsively and then after a few races recognize that we made the wrong choices“, he emphasized to Sky Sports.

From the report by colleagues at RacingNews365, it emerged that the April 9 meeting will not be in person in London but virtual. The meeting will basically be a discussion between the parties involved – the FIA technical department, the teams, and the engine manufacturers.
The data collected in the first three Grands Prix will be evaluated and proposals to improve what has been seen so far will be discussed, mainly on the energy management side.
It will be a first step that will produce changes then put to a vote on April 20, in a meeting already scheduled between the team principals, the FIA, and F1. On this occasion, longer-term proposals will also be discussed, perhaps those concerning the split between the internal combustion engine and the hybrid part.
After the vote, another step: formalization in the FIA World Motor Sport Council.
