Tesla is launching a further expansion of its robotaxi service in the USA with launches in Dallas and Houston, two cities in Texas. The American automaker announced this, linking it to a growth strategy that is still in its early stages but progressively increasing. After launching the service in Austin last year, the company now seems to aim to consolidate its presence in a regional area already “familiar” with its operational development.

Tesla expands robotaxi service
From a communication standpoint, the official Tesla account dedicated to robotaxis on X announced the launch of the service by publishing two videos showing the Model Y SUVs circulating in the two cities, without the presence of a human driver or assistants in the front seats. The same announcement also included two map images with the boundaries of the area where the service is available, but without further concrete information on aspects such as fleet size or prices. Elon Musk, reposting, relaunched the invitation “Try Tesla robotaxis in Dallas and Houston!”.

Fierce competition
The move is part of an increasingly fierce competition: while Alphabet’s Waymo and Amazon’s Zoox intensify their plans, Tesla aims to expand both its mobility offering and the adoption of its fully autonomous driving software. The growth of the service is also central to the industrial and financial bet of the group: a significant part of Tesla’s valuation is linked precisely to this trajectory.
