Antonelli superstar
Two GPs won out of three contested, with as many pole positions, and the leadership of the Formula 1 World Championship, with the significant bonus of being the youngest driver ever to have achieved this result. Andrea Kimi Antonelli is the man, or rather the boy – given that he is still a teenager – of the moment and his popularity is now widespread in the world of motorsport. Thus, WEC and the Imola circuit have decided to call upon him to open the 2026 World Endurance Championship season, which will kick off today at 13 on the Santerno circuit with the highly anticipated 6-hour race.

Antonelli will have the task of waving the green flag to start the race on what is effectively his home track: the 2026-born driver is in fact a native of Bologna, which is about 40 km from the circuit. The Mercedes standard-bearer was welcomed to Imola by a huge crowd, demonstrating how, despite his very young age, his talent has already broken through into the hearts of many motorsport enthusiasts. A splendid message and the best way to open the new season of endurance racing, in the hope that, also thanks to Kimi, attention to motorsport, in all its forms, will grow more and more.
