Tesla intends to strengthen its workforce at the Gruenheide plant, near Berlin, by hiring over 1,500 new employees. The goal of the American electric car manufacturer is to boost production related to battery cells, in the area where the company has already started and consolidated production activities. This personnel growth comes at a time when Tesla aims to respond more quickly to the increasing demand in the electric vehicle sector, trying to make the European production chain more efficient.

Tesla hires at the German Gigafactory
According to the company, to set the necessary conditions for the annual production of 18 gigawatt-hours of battery cells at Gruenheide, investments of nearly 250 million dollars, equivalent to over 210 million euros, are planned. These resources are essentially intended to expand and make operational the industrial infrastructure needed to support higher volumes, with a direct impact on battery production capacity, a key element for performance, range, and scalability of electric models.

The expansion plan does not come out of nowhere: in April, Tesla had announced its intention to hire about 1,000 new employees by the end of June at its only European plant, to increase production by one fifth and reach about 6,000 vehicles per week. In a context where data on production and registrations had shown a decline, Elon Musk’s company today seems to foresee a possible turnaround.
