Tardozzi: “The Aprilia victory burns, we are missing 2 tenths”

Ducati does not win at Mugello

At the seventh grand prix of the season, there seem to be no more doubts, Aprilia has surpassed Ducati and is the bike to beat in this 2026 as evidenced by the five victories collected so far. And the standings reflect this supremacy, with Bezzecchi and Martin leading the riders, +30 in the constructors on Ducati and the remarkable double also in the team rankings (Aprilia Racing at 329 ahead of Trackhouse at 180).

Tardozzi admits defeat

Interviewed by Sky Italia, Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi gave an assessment of the weekend: “Does it burn? Yes, definitely. But I want to say well done, they were better than us. They have been stronger than us since the start of the championship, so it’s up to us to work to put Marc and Pecco in a position to fight with them for the victory.”

Tardozzi did not look for excuses and exonerated his riders: “Their speed is not in question, but at the bike level unfortunately at this moment they are a bit ahead. I have absolute confidence in Gigi and his engineers to recover. Mugello made us understand exactly what our delay is – which I believe is a couple of tenths – and we understood in which phase they are more performing than us. It will take some time to be able to catch up with Aprilia.”
