Marquez and the Le Mans injury
The bad crash suffered by Marc Marquez during the Le Mans Sprint caused the Spanish rider a fracture of the fifth metatarsal of the right foot. The reigning world champion will take advantage of the forced break also to surgically fix – besides the foot – also the right shoulder, where a screw was touching his radial nerve and was causing many problems.
Marquez has therefore raised the white flag not only for the rest of the Le Mans weekend but also for the home race in Barcelona. No fixed date set for his return, it will be evaluated in due time.

Davide Tardozzi, Ducati team principal, commented: “As explained by Marc, following yesterday’s highside here at the French GP, he suffered a fracture of the fifth metatarsal of the right foot. Marc is in Madrid and will be operated on today. At the same time, the right shoulder will also be operated on to fix an old injury dating back to the crash at last year’s Indonesian GP. This shoulder surgery had already been planned. Marc will not participate in next week’s Catalan GP. The entire Lenovo Ducati team sends him their best wishes. We couldn’t agree more on this: his health remains the priority.”
