Stellantis and Dongfeng Group have recently signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to further strengthen a partnership that has lasted 34 years. The declared goal is to build a new joint venture based in Europe, dedicated to the sales, distribution, production, purchasing, and engineering of Dongfeng’s new energy vehicles. The project also envisages a focused launch on selected European markets, where both commercial channels and industrial and after-sales skills can be enhanced.

Stellantis and Dongfeng, new agreement
In detail, the two parties intend to create a European entity led by Stellantis and held at 51:49, designed to manage the sales and distribution of Dongfeng’s premium Voyah NEVs in the identified Old Continent markets. A central role will be entrusted to the Stellantis network and its after-sales capabilities, elements considered strategic to accelerate the brand’s entry and growth in the most competitive contexts. The joint venture would also include joint activities on purchasing and engineering, with the ambition to integrate Dongfeng’s Chinese ecosystem with the requirements, standards, and operational logics typical of the European market.
Joint venture for Europe
On the industrial front, the partners foresee the possible production of Dongfeng NEVs at the Rennes plant in France, in line with European regulations and with the aim of meeting the requirements related to “Made in Europe.” At the same time, there is also a further strengthening of the historic DPCA joint venture in China: Stellantis and Dongfeng have announced the extension of DPCA, which will produce new Peugeot and Jeep NEVs at the Wuhan plant for the Chinese market and also for export to global markets starting in 2027. In this context, DPCA has already reached over 6.5 million vehicles produced since its creation, confirming the solidity of the collaboration between the two groups.
