The hope of leaving last place
Waiting for the fifth seasonal appointment scheduled this weekend in Montreal, Cadillac shares a negative streak of results with Aston Martin: the debutant American team, in fact, is still stuck in the Constructors’ standings without any points scored. The hope of making progress will present itself in Canada, where the team will take to the track with a further package of updates after the one brought to Miami.

In Canada for further steps forward
Added to this is the good feeling of both drivers on the ‘Gilles Villeneuve’ circuit. During their careers, both Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas have achieved at least one podium, with the Mexican confident of making a step this weekend: “The Miami weekend was very positive. We improved the pace from the start and showed that we are able to bring important updates that then materialized on track. This is really encouraging. Now it’s about refining what we have and extracting the true potential in every aspect. There have definitely been glimpses of real progress and we need to put everything together at the same time. If we succeed, I believe we will be closer to the front group. I look forward to getting back on track.”

Past and present
While the former Red Bull driver has achieved only one podium in Canada, Bottas’s record in Montreal is richer. The Finn, in fact, obtained a total of 4 consecutive podiums from 2015 to 2018, achieving them both as a Williams and Mercedes driver: “Even though our race in Miami didn’t go exactly as planned, we clearly made a big step forward. We showed good potential, which is really positive. This weekend will be a new challenge for us, since the track is very technical, the walls are very close and we will have to reach top speed quickly due to the Sprint format. But Montreal is a circuit I really like and where I have achieved good results in the past: it still makes me happy to see my name among the lap record holders! I look forward to continuing to improve.”
