The new Smart #2 is coming. For now, its debut is limited to being artistic: the Mercedes group brand has in fact revealed in preview its new electric two-seater through a series of custom murals. From Shanghai to Hong Kong, from Buenos Aires to Melbourne, and soon also in Berlin and Paris: the new Smart #2 becomes the protagonist of “a vibrant dialogue between premium design and urban culture”.

Smart #2 becomes a mural
The new car perfectly combines its iconic ultra-compact dimensions with its unmatched capabilities for a new era of urban electric driving, as defined by Smart itself. It then announces: “The urban masterpiece is coming back”. But when is it coming back? The new fully electric Smart #2 will make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in October this year. And it promises significant driving sensations, considering that recently in test centers where typical city driving conditions are recreated, the brand has focused its work on key components such as steering, chassis, and suspension system.

From this point of view, Smart aims to ensure the new generation two-seater BEV the right balance between agility in direction changes and stability in emergency situations, without giving up high driving comfort. To make the new car up to par also in terms of comfort, the brand has activated a NVH validation program. With one goal: to measure and reduce noise, vibrations, and roughness sensations. All this in different environments, from the wind tunnel to closed tracks to open roads. At the same time, the brand has also worked on the choice of tire compounds tested on uneven asphalt, grooved concrete, and high-speed straights.
