Russell comes out destroyed from Spa
George Russell had arrived at the Spa-Francorchamps weekend with momentum, after recovering 43 points in the last three GPs from Kimi Antonelli. His race in Belgium, however, lasted only five laps: due to a contact with Lewis Hamilton, which sent him into the gravel, although #63 exonerated the Ferrari driver by blaming that power delivery which, according to him, is not giving him peace.
In Belgium Russell was clearly beaten by Antonelli throughout the weekend, suffering embarrassing gaps like 1.2 seconds in FP2 and half a second in qualifying. In the Drivers’ Championship, the gap between the two has risen again to 50 points.

Even more calmly, the Brit was very critical of Mercedes, even hinting at a difference in treatment with Antonelli: “I just want my car to be the same, I’m not asking for anything better“, this was his comment to Sky.

“Yes, it was a racing incident with Lewis. We shouldn’t have been in that position at that moment: I had no power, I had no battery, I was overtaken by Leclerc, by Hamilton and almost by Piastri as well. It was dangerous, honestly, I was slower than a Formula 2“.
