Russell loses his temper after the incident: “Unacceptable, I didn’t have a f**king battery”

Russell does not accept it

George Russell‘s Belgian Grand Prix ended practically immediately. The Mercedes driver was forced to retire after just a few corners, ending up in the gravel at Les Combes following contact with Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari.

The incident was examined by the race stewards, who handed five seconds to the Ferrari driver. However, the latter was exonerated by Russell: the Briton instead lashed out at the team due to a power delivery problem that, according to him, penalized him throughout the weekend. And on the Kemmel straight it left him prey to the chasers.

Russell’s team radio

In the team radio immediately after the contact with Hamilton, Russell lost his composure, using very harsh terms: “I had f*** all battery on the straight. Guys, this is unacceptable, f***ing unacceptable, I had this problem all weekend“.

In the Drivers’ Championship, the British driver has dropped to -50 from Kimi Antonelli, from whom he had recovered 43 points in the last three race weekends. Team principal Toto Wolff, after the checkered flag, admitted that all Mercedes-powered cars suffer from a software problem at the start.
