Alonso wrinkles his nose
Fernando Alonso is the most experienced driver on the F1 2026 starting grid and his opinion on the regulatory changes ahead of Miami was undoubtedly among the most awaited this Thursday.
And the Spaniard did not disappoint, showing clear skepticism about the interventions implemented by F1 and FIA: “You have to wait, but I don’t think things will change significantly. These power units and these rules will always favor those who go slower in corners, because that way you have more energy for the straights.” Particularly interesting is the observation that Aston Martin shared with Alonso on the subject: “Small changes might improve clipping a bit, but the team tells me that if we were to return to Suzuka with these changes, we would have even more clipping than we had. It seems contradictory.”

Aston Martin, present and future
In statements collected by the Spanish As, Alonso also spoke about the news on his Aston Martin in Miami: “We are bringing solutions for reliability and vibrations, but nothing for performance. I hope we will have less vibrations on the steering wheel, to have a better race.”
In recent days Fernando Alonso hinted that he wants to continue with F1 also in 2027, and he returned to this aspect in the conversation with journalists: “Honestly, I haven’t started thinking about the future yet. I had talks with Lawrence Stroll and the team, but we haven’t talked much about the future. At some point around summer or just after, I know I will have to make a decision. I will talk about it with my family, but I am very calm. Leaving F1 with this taste in my mouth after this season wouldn’t be ideal. But these things can’t be chosen, only Rosberg did that. Since I came back in 2021 I live being here as a gift. Now I feel 100% and if I continue racing I believe it will be a better season than this one, if I stop there will be other categories.”
