On Thursday there will be another step before the decisive meeting scheduled for April 20; in terms of proposals on the table, the only ones feasible in the short term are those relating to changes in parameters regarding the maximum battery charging threshold and the maximum power deliverable when using the electric power available in the battery. The result will be to slow down the cars on average over the course of the lap while avoiding, however, potentially dangerous drastic drops in power.

Questioned on the race dynamics of these first GPs, world champion Nico Rosberg commented on this start of the season as follows: “I understand the criticism because it is quite unnatural to slow down so much on the straight or even downshift to favor battery charging – said Rosberg according to what was reported by the news outlet Bloomberg – it is understandable that a spectator might be a bit bewildered in front of an F1 car that suddenly slows down when it should instead be the maximum expression of speed. However, as long as there are great battles on track between teams and drivers, I wouldn’t worry too much.”
