Road safety, the government talks with young people

The European Road Safety Day was celebrated at the beginning of the week. On this occasion, the Vice President of the Council and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, and the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, met at the MIT with the young people involved in the “On the Road” project. The focus was on a clear message. Namely: learning road safety cannot be limited to abstract lessons, but must become a lived experience, capable of truly bringing young people closer to institutions and operational practices that make roads safer.

The government focuses on road safety

“On the Road” is a road safety and legality education project strongly supported by the two Ministers. Last October, a national protocol was signed with the association Ragazzi On the Road APS. The goal is to test the model in at least ten cities over two years. The heart of the initiative is to turn young people into protagonists of a direct field experience, through real shifts alongside the law enforcement agencies.

“On the Road” Project

During the morning, the participants had the opportunity to face to face confront the two Ministers. Clearly in the presence of the authorities and the operational components involved. It was an open, concrete, and unfiltered dialogue, focused on topics such as driving distractions, dangerous behaviors, respect for rules, and the importance of conscious choices in everyday life. The initiative thus confirms that education is an essential lever to reduce accidents and build a new road culture, based on attention, shared responsibility, and prevention.
