Two riders, one point
Excluding wild cards or official riders who could not participate in multiple races due to injury (as in the case of Maverick Viñales), the Riders’ standings see the representatives of the Pramac team in the last two positions: Toprak Razgatlioglu and Jack Miller. While the three-time Superbike world champion has scored only one point, the Australian teammate has never entered the top 15, despite having more MotoGP experience.

A situation mainly due to Yamaha’s competitiveness crisis, with the team preparing to take to the track this weekend at Le Mans for the French Grand Prix. However, on this circuit, Miller has sweet memories: among his four MotoGP wins, one was achieved in 2021 as a Ducati rider. The main goal now is to score his first points of the season after a rather disappointing start: “I can’t wait to race at Le Mans. It’s one of my favorite circuits on the calendar and I’ve had great results here in the past. The whole event is always something special: the fans are incredible, they bring amazing energy throughout the weekend and create a truly unique atmosphere, even if the weather isn’t always great. From a sporting point of view, it’s another important opportunity to continue developing the bike and consolidate the work we’ve done. We will keep pushing hard to make another step forward and see what we can achieve this weekend.”

Never at Le Mans
For Razgatlioglu, the challenge will be completely different: besides being a rookie this year in the premier class, the Turkish rider has never raced on the Le Mans circuit in his career. In Superbike, the rounds in France were (and are) scheduled at Magny-Cours: “Finally I can race at Le Mans and I’m really happy about it. It’s a legendary circuit that I have only admired so far, so it’s exciting to experience it for the first time. I’m more excited than worried. Of course, it’s a new track and another thing to learn, but at the same time I see it as an opportunity. On the circuits we have raced on so far, I naturally reverted to my Superbike riding style because it was familiar: it was almost instinctive. Here, starting from zero, I hope to approach the track with the right mindset from the start and fully focus on adapting to the MotoGP riding style. It’s an aspect I have worked on a lot and this could be a good opportunity to take another step in that direction.”
