The Daily Mail revelation: Newey in hospital
An explanation for his absence came from journalist Jonathan McEvoy in the columns of the Daily Mail: “I can reveal that Adrian Newey has faced a period of illness that required hospitalization. The 67-year-old was not in Miami last weekend, as he was recovering from an issue that had been affecting him for several weeks. A well-informed source revealed that Newey is currently working mainly from home in the village of Sunninghill, Berkshire”.
Aston Martin’s denial
The Daily Mail then contacted Aston Martin for a response: “We do not comment on personal matters concerning any of our team members. Adrian is working and was at the headquarters last week”. The English team thus downplayed the rumors coming from England.
