The victory in 2025
It has been a year since Honda LCR achieved its last victory on the historic Le Mans circuit with Joan Zarco, a true protagonist in a race made complicated by wet track conditions. A success that was the last not only for Lucio Cecchinello’s team but also for Honda, with the official team arriving in France two weeks after the Jerez weekend, which ended with unsatisfactory results.
Goals and hopes
Both riders of the Japanese manufacturer, Luca Marini and Joan Mir, crossed the finish line on the edge of the points zone, with Tavullia’s #10 in 13th followed by the Spanish teammate, only 15th: “I can’t wait for Le Mans after the positive test we had after Jerez, we have some things to try during the race weekend to help us – Marini commented while waiting for this weekend – of course, it’s a bit of a cliché to say it, but a lot will depend on what happens with the weather. Our main goal is to get into Q2 because this opens up many more possibilities on Saturday and Sunday. We need to quickly reach our level and then work to make another step forward or two like our rivals.”
A track not loved
Disappointed by the last home test in Jerez, Mir arrives with great desire for redemption, while admitting that the French track is not among his favorites: “We arrive in France with great motivation after a weekend in Spain where I thought we could have achieved more. Monday’s tests helped us clarify some aspects and find new ideas for the next GP. Lately Le Mans has not been the best track for me, but I know we can change things and show the potential we have demonstrated.”
