El Diablo ready for a year as a ‘tourist’
There seems to be no end to the dizzying nosedive of Yamaha in MotoGP. Last Sunday in the United States, the Iwata manufacturer saw the 4 M1s on track finish in the last four positions at the finish line, and only the retirements or crashes of others opened a window in the points zone for Toprak Razgatlioglu. Aprilia and KTM finished ahead of Ducati, Honda is at least jostling because while it is true that Joan Mir has not yet seen the checkered flag this season in the GPs, the Spaniard was a protagonist, even occupying the very top positions in Texas.

Yamaha, on the other hand, is unable to recover in the slightest, and the statements made by Fabio Quartararo to the French broadcaster Canal+ are chilling to say the least: “There is nothing to save from this weekend, I tried to do some experiments in the race because we are so far away that we have nothing to lose, but it is clear that they are not working. The team has no ideas on how to solve the problems we have.”

Quartararo must have patience and wait for 2027 when he will become the lead rider for Honda HRC: “I knew it would be a long season, mentally I have to stay calm. The month-long break will help me disconnect completely.” A 2026 as a tourist, in short, waiting for a change of scenery in the hope of finding himself on a much more competitive bike compared to a Yamaha that is currently too bad to be true.
