Two races without Alex Marquez

The frightening accident that occurred in the last Catalonia Grand Prix could have had worse consequences for Alex Marquez, who fortunately remained conscious after the violent fall. However, the Spaniard suffered a marginal fracture of the C7 vertebra and the right clavicle, which is why the brother of the nine-time world champion (who will instead try to get medical clearance precisely for this weekend) will not be able to participate in the upcoming Italian Grand Prix and the following Hungarian GP.

The announcement from the Gresini team

For this reason, the Gresini team has taken action by officially announcing the rider who will replace Marquez at Mugello. It is the historic Ducati test rider Michele Pirro, who will not be making his absolute debut in this championship. The Apulian, in fact, was called by the Faenza team for the first GP of the calendar in Thailand, in that case to replace Fermin Aldeguer, who had fractured his left femur during the winter break.

For Pirro, his long experience in MotoGP continues. The veteran of the premier class, who will turn 40 next July, has in fact participated in at least one race every year from 2012 to today.
