Max Verstappen received a five-second penalty at the end of the race, but the sanction is not related to an overtaking or defensive maneuver. The four-time world champion was penalized for not respecting the white line when exiting the pits during the Safety Car period when he switched to hard tires.
The penalty did not affect Verstappen’s finishing position. The Red Bull driver kept fifth place behind George Russell and ahead of Lewis Hamilton. The Stewards decided not to take action regarding the contact between Verstappen and Russell at Turn 1, an incident in which Russell damaged his front wing.
