Second row, first of the ‘others’
In Shanghai, in the Sprint qualifying, Lando Norris is the ‘first of the others’. The reigning world champion placed his McLaren in third place in SQ3, preceded only by the two Mercedes of Russell and Antonelli, absolutely unreachable at this moment for the rest of the grid. The Englishman, however, won the challenge with his teammate and with the two Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton (who will start alongside him tomorrow in the short race, from the fourth spot) and Charles Leclerc.

“Yes, I am happy with the result – Norris commented to the microphones of the official F1 channel – I didn’t see where I lost or gained, but I think third place was the maximum that could be achieved for the moment. I am happy to have finished ahead of the Ferraris today – the papaya #1 added – because they seemed to be doing well all day, so I am satisfied with the position I got for tomorrow. Surely things went better this weekend, because the track is a little bit simpler for our Power Unit, for which we are all aligned. We are still quite far behind (compared to the Mercedes) but this was a good lap that put us in a good position,” Norris concluded.
