The debut of the new Audi RS6 is approaching. A prototype of the next sports car from the four-ring brand was spotted by Carscoops during tests in the Austrian Alps. Showing itself both stealthy and menacing, as the RS6s have always done since their first debut almost 25 years ago. The huge 20-spoke wheels barely fit under the bulging fenders, while the front wheel arches feature air intakes just in front of the doors. These should help dissipate heat and pressure from the wheel arches when the brakes work to decelerate a curb weight of about 2,500 kg.

The new Audi RS6 will be hybrid
Electrification will be the protagonist: on the hood, doors, and trunk there is indeed a yellow warning label, confirming that the prototype is equipped with hybrid components. What remains less certain is exactly what Audi has paired with the electric part. Early rumors suggested that the RS6 could adopt the 4-liter V8 biturbo plug-in hybrid engine from the Bentley Continental GT Speed. Other rumors contradict this theory, stating that Audi has instead opted for a hybrid system with a V6 biturbo engine.
Quattro all-wheel drive indispensable
Regardless of the solution chosen, the new RS6 should deliver about 750 hp, thus being a clear rival to the BMW M5. The Quattro all-wheel drive is essential, which should guarantee excellent road holding despite a prototype of the car crashing into a barrier during tests at the Nürburgring in May. According to rumors, the RS6 should debut in spring 2027, with sales in Europe expected around mid or late the same year. When it hits the market, it will be offered both as a fastback sedan and Avant, and will be positioned in the same price range as the M5.
