The Colombian has noticed a change of course
After more than a month of waiting, F1 is ready to return to the track in Miami for what will be the second Sprint weekend of the season. The weekend in Florida will be the first with the new regulations regarding energy management, and therefore the first practice session has been extended by 30 minutes to give teams and drivers time to adjust ahead of the Sprint Qualifying.

The regulation changes were made in an attempt to reduce lift and coast in Qualifying and to avoid as much as possible incidents like the one involving Franco Colapinto and Oliver Bearman, with the latter essentially forced off track to avoid the Alpine of his colleague during charging, losing control of his Haas.

Max Verstappen has been very critical of the 2026 regulations and Juan Pablo Montoya would not be surprised by a possible call received by the Dutchman – and not only him – with the aim of lowering the tone of the controversies in favor of constructive criticism that does not necessarily have to be made through the press: “I wouldn’t be surprised if someone from F1 had called Max and told him to shut up – said Montoya reached by Betpack – I guarantee they have talked to him and all the drivers and told them that in this game you can play with two. Since then, none of the drivers have said anything. I believe the drivers are starting to understand that they have to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. Drivers have enormous power and influence over what is said. I’m sure F1 told them they are working on it, but if they don’t support them then they won’t support them either and if they want to leave that’s the door. Since then, everyone has changed their mind. Bearman blamed his accident first on the cars, then last week he appeared on an F1 program and said the cause of the accident was Colapinto’s maneuver exiting the corner. Their perspective is completely changing, and this is because F1 grabbed them by the balls, as it should have done at the start of the year.”
