Misano 2026, Superpole Race: Bulega double victory

Misano 2026, Superpole Race: Bulega double victory

On the weekend when a historic motorsport event like the 24 Hours of Le Mans takes place, the number 24 is somehow also linked to Superbike, and more specifically to the Superpole Race taking place today. The victory of Nicolò Bulega, who maintains his unbeaten streak this season, is in fact his 24th consecutive, with the Ducati rider, awaiting Race 2 scheduled at 14:00, celebrating once again in front of his home crowd. As happened in Race 1, #11 once again finished ahead of the duo made up of his teammate Iker Lecuona and Yari Montella.

Race report

Unlike Race 1, when at the extinguishing of the red lights Bulega had momentarily lost the race lead to Lecuona, the home rider maintained first position ahead of his teammate, immediately pulling away from the Spaniard and Yari Montella, in third place in the Emilia-Romagna Round. A Superpole Race to forget, on the other hand, for Sam Lowes, who fell once again after yesterday’s crash, just like his compatriot Thomas Bridewell. A negative race also for Sam Lowes’ twin brother, Alex, who was betrayed by a problem with his Bimota while in fourth position, with Surra and Bassani thus moving into the top 5. Surra’s chance to defend 4th place, however, vanished during the eighth lap, due to a mistake that opened the door to Bassani and Miguel Oliveira, who returned to the track this weekend after the injury sustained at Balaton. The Portuguese BMW rider, however, also made a mistake in the final stages of the race, ‘giving’ the top 5 to Baldassarri. No luck, instead, for Lecuona, once again 2nd behind an unstoppable Bulega, with the Aruba.it-Ducati team still starring in another one-two finish.
