Stellantis would be in talks with the Chinese Huawei and JAC Group to set up a long-term industrial cooperation related to the luxury brand Maserati. Recently, the Trident has been going through difficulties. This was reported by Reuters, citing two sources familiar with the matter. The talks, according to rumors, would mainly concern the definition of a new production and technological strategy capable of relaunching the brand’s competitiveness and volumes, after a period marked by below-expectation performance.

Stellantis negotiates for Maserati’s future
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa had anticipated at the beginning of the year that the group was working to expand production partnerships, including Maserati. And that such agreements would represent a central pillar of the overall long-term strategy. An agreement aimed at a new program for the Trident brand would also have a positive impact on the production rates of the Italian plants in Cassino and Modena, where Maserati models are made. To reinforce the context, we recall that Maserati delivered fewer than 8,000 cars in 2025, recording an adjusted operating loss of 198 million euros.
From Europe to China
According to what was first reported by Milano Finanza, the negotiations are in an advanced stage. And they would revolve around the use of Huawei’s “Harmony Intelligent Mobility” platform for Maserati. The goal is to start production of the first jointly developed vehicle by the end of 2027. The possible collaboration could also include an idea of a dual brand: a vehicle launched in China under JAC’s Maextro brand, and another that would be offered as Maserati in international markets. Stellantis, through a spokesperson, stated that as part of its normal activities the company holds talks with various operators worldwide. The ultimate goal is to offer customers the best mobility options.
