Martin to Jerez
With the results obtained in the first races of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship, Jorge Martin has confirmed that he is close to 100% fitness. The 2024 world champion regained the championship lead on Saturday in Austin and arrives at the Jerez de la Frontera event in second position, just four points behind his Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi.
Counting on the warmth of the Andalusian public and the competitiveness of the RS-GP, Martin hopes to at least reach the podium in Jerez, a result he has never achieved in MotoGP.
Martin’s words
“It has certainly been a very positive start to the season, but I don’t feel ready to win a GP yet. We’ll see if I have the chance, if it’s there I’ll try, but I’m happy to be here. A year ago I was watching MotoGP from Qatar, on my phone, so just being here is a victory: my goal is to compete at 100% of my potential. I don’t regret anything from my past, I’m simply trying to grow little by little: 2025 was tough but it made me the person I am today, so I’m happy with everything that has happened to me,” he commented at the press conference. “The Sprint victory in Austin was fantastic, it’s difficult to take another step because that would mean winning on Sunday too, I’m just missing that: I’m still very happy with what has happened to me so far this season, I’ll try to enjoy the moment.”

“Now I feel that the Aprilia is my bike, and it’s the same feeling I had in 2024 with Ducati,” he added. “I’ve changed many small things in my style to adapt to this bike, because it’s totally different: I don’t want to go into details, but I think that Aprilia’s changes over the winter also allowed me to understand that it was a good package, right from the tests in Thailand I felt good and everything came easier to me. I still need time, I also need to try some parts that I don’t have on my bike yet, and certainly Monday’s test will be important for me to improve. But I feel very good with the package and I don’t want to touch much.”
The schedule and times
MotoGP will start its engines tomorrow at 10:45 with FP1, while Practice will begin at 15:00. Saturday’s schedule is 10:10 for FP2, 10:50 for Q1, 11:15 for Q2, and 15:00 for the Sprint. On Sunday, the GP will start at 14:00.
