MotoGP restarts from Jerez
To the personal difficulties that have tormented him throughout the 2025 season, a not particularly happy moment for Ducati is now added. Thus, for Pecco Bagnaia the Spanish GP in Jerez, the first European race that finally breaks three long weeks of fasting caused by the autumn postponement of the Lusail round, becomes a crucial stage for the continuation of the season, partly because the track is one of the “good” ones for the Turin rider – here he won in MotoGP three consecutive times between 2022 and 2024 – partly because it is especially in the tests scheduled after the race weekend that the Borgo Panigale manufacturer should allow Bagnaia and teammate Marc Marquez to test some new features to reverse the negative trend of this start to the World Championship.
Ducati, new features coming (but only at tests)
News announced directly by Pecco Bagnaia himself, interviewed by Sky on the eve of the Thursday – here all the TV schedules and live broadcasts of the weekend – in Jerez de la Frontera: “For the moment it seems that throughout the race weekend we won’t have many new parts to try, while at the tests there will be something. I don’t know yet exactly what it will be, but I hope it’s something that helps us go in the right direction”. Ducati must indeed recover from a shocking start to the season, with the Desmosedici only able to cross the finish line first in the Sprint Race of the Brazilian GP in Goiania.
Pecco Bagnaia’s veiled pessimism
However, Bagnaia is a little less confident about the general plan and his chances of pushing the bike again as he did until the 2024 MotoGP season: “I know my potential very well, I know where I can be. The times I’ve had the chance to do it, I’ve always been at the front and the results speak for themselves. For two years now, however, I’ve been struggling a lot because the DNA of the GP25 and GP26, which is the same, doesn’t allow me to express myself 100%. I always ride very defensively, I can’t fully trust the bike and this doesn’t allow me to be fast. My strong point has always been braking and corner entry, but with this bike I can no longer exploit it”.
“I have completely distorted my way of braking and it is something that limits me a lot, I just hope that we can go in the direction we went until 2024, with a bike designed precisely for that aspect. At this moment there are also other riders who complain about the same things I complain about, I hope that in the tests (scheduled for Monday on the Jerez track, ed.) we can try something that goes in this direction”, concluded Pecco Bagnaia.
