The Cervera phenomenon is back to stay
Marc Marquez managed to collect 14 points during the Mugello weekend, thanks to a fifth place in the Sprint and a seventh in the GP. In Sunday’s race, as expected, he had to give in at the end due to the physical effort that took its toll on such a demanding track as Mugello.

Marquez in the standings has dropped to -102 points from leader Marco Bezzecchi, but he emphasized that his ‘accelerated’ return during the Italian GP weekend is not linked to chasing the tenth title at all costs already in 2026 as Jorge Lorenzo speculated.
“I could have returned at Balaton, which is a slower and less demanding circuit physically, but I told myself that if I had done that I wouldn’t have been the Marc Marquez I know – Marquez explained to the journalists present – I will try to return to what I was physically in the past, I’m not saying I will succeed, but you know my mentality. I don’t want to give up without trying. If I have returned it is because I want to extend my career, this year I’m not having fun, but last year I was having a lot of fun, so I want to try to extend my career.”
