F1 Commission, what emerged from the London meeting
The second annual meeting of the F1 Commission was held in London. The meeting took place at the FIA offices in the English capital and was led by Nikolas Tombazis and Stefano Domenicali. The F1 president and the FIA single-seater director coordinated the discussion on some regulatory aspects ahead of the 2027 season. Solutions emerged that will then be officially ratified by the World Motor Sport Council.

The most relevant point, at least from the calendar perspective, concerns the pre-season tests. A proposal was approved that provides for an increase in the number of test days before the start of the championship, which will go from three to four, thus offering teams greater opportunities for preparation and development of the new cars. The six days this winter (plus the three shakedown days at Montmeló) were indeed an exception due to the arrival of the new generation of cars; already in 2027 the “three days” should have returned, but the F1 Commission’s choice goes against recent years and will give more space to drivers and teams.
Among the topics addressed, the F1 Commission discussed some updates related to the 2027 technical and sporting regulations. In particular, an agreement was reached on limited changes concerning aerodynamic components and parts of the car bodywork.
The F1 Commission also agreed on changes to the rules on testing with old cars (TPC), introducing restrictions related to the venues where the tests can be held. In particular, constraints will be placed on the use of circuits scheduled to host a championship race in the following year.
