Marquez “only” third at Aragon
Everyone expected Marc Marquez at Aragon. And Marquez was there, only (for once) he was not the main actor at MotorLand. The world champion finishes the Qualifying in third place, 38 thousandths behind Marco Bezzecchi’s reference and 28 behind his brother Alex.

Although Marquez’s time remains excellent (today three riders broke the track record), the Spaniard did not start the weekend aggressively and still has room for improvement. Repeating the mistake of Silverstone (where he arrived on Sunday no longer feeling his right arm) would be detrimental because here Marquez can make a clean sweep just like in the last two years. “The first position is always important“, this is his comment to Sky Sport MotoGP. “Today I finish in third place, there are two riders who went faster than me, but we worked well, I feel good and I enjoy the bike. This is a track favorable to my riding style and if I want to have the slightest chance to fight for this world championship I have to go close to the maximum of 37 points or at least finish ahead of the championship rivals, because there will be tracks where they will be stronger“.

“If three of us have lapped under the track record, it means we are going very fast“, he added. “From a physical point of view I am at an acceptable level, and I am ready. Every day I try to reach the maximum potential that my body allows me“.
Third place represents an excellent starting point for Marquez for the rest of the weekend. Aragón is his home (here he has seven poles and seven MotoGP wins) and in view of tomorrow the world champion remains the absolute favorite for both Qualifying and the Sprint.
