Decisive duel
The Marquez-Acosta duel in Saturday’s Thai Sprint – which ended with the penalty for the reigning world champion and the victory for the KTM rider – continues to cause discussion, while the tension between the two, even at a distance, does not decrease at all. The latest background on the all-Iberian confrontation emerges from the YouTube series produced by Ducati, Inside Ducati, which also focuses on the post-Sprint. In particular, the post-race conversation between Gigi Dall’Igna and Marc Marquez is shown, in which both appear rather annoyed by the penalty imposed on #93, who was forced to let Acosta pass just before the checkered flag.

The dialogue with Dall’Igna
Marquez: “I was ahead eh… I was ahead!”.
Dall’Igna: “You didn’t touch him and you stayed on track”.
Marquez: “I was ahead”.
Dall’Igna: “You also stayed on track, you understand?”.
Marquez: “When he was overtaking me, if I stayed outside, I would have gone off”.
Dall’Igna: “If you had gone off track they would have been right… but you stayed inside, you closed the line and you made the corner”.
Marquez: “I was on track and the contact happened when my bike was ahead”.
Dall’Igna: “But yes, come on, that’s enough”.
Marquez: “I preferred to give him the position because Fernandez was behind”.
Dall’Igna: “You did everything right. Everything perfect Marc”.
Marquez: “There was a bit of contact, but I had already overtaken him. Then afterwards I felt it (the contact). But I thought he would cut inside (cross the line)”.
Dall’Igna: “I didn’t even see the contact on TV, for that matter”.
Marquez: “I don’t know if he was trying to go around the outside. Maybe he thought I would cut the corner more and wanted to take it on the outside. I don’t know”.
