Lucid, four new electric models for the relaunch

Lucid Motors chose the 2026 Investor Day in New York to outline its growth strategy. Despite a challenging financial context, the company will invest in expanding its offering by leveraging the new Midsize (Msp) platform. This technological base was designed to host four medium-sized electric vehicles, namely the Cosmos and Earth models, an as-yet-unnamed adventure SUV, and the two-seater Lunar robotaxi. In this way, Lucid will extend its reach beyond the current high-end segment.

Lucid thinks about a relaunch in the USA

The central message of the presentation was clear: contain production costs without giving up innovation, focusing on a modular platform that facilitates economies of scale and different variants for distinct market targets. Among the new models, Cosmos was presented as a premium electric car designed for the urban environment but performance-oriented. Earth is instead described as a “down-to-earth” SUV, intended to compete commercially with established competitors like the Tesla Model Y.

Four new EVs

The third project is an adventure crossover, designed to tackle any terrain and considered by the specialized press a response to the future Rivian R2. Finally, Lunar represents a more radical experiment, a two-seater robotaxi developed specifically for autonomous mobility services. It is based on the autonomous driving technologies that Lucid has experimented with in collaboration with Nuro and tested on the Gravity SUV.

Atlas is the heart of everything

At the center of the technical strategy is the Atlas drive unit, a smaller, lighter propulsion system with a simplified design. Thanks to identical front and rear housings, it improves production scalability and reduces assembly costs. Lucid claims that Atlas will offer a leap forward in performance: a power density of 4,9 hp/kg, which is about 40% more than the 3,5 hp/kg of the Tesla Model Y drive unit.
