Hamilton only 6th at Suzuka
It was not a memorable weekend for Lewis Hamilton in Japan, although his race had headed in the right direction after the choice to wait before making the pit stop and the entry of the Safety Car. At the restart, in fact, the Ferrari Englishman had moved into third position overtaking George Russell, but he was unable to defend himself from the series of attacks by Leclerc, Russell, and Norris and crossed the finish line only sixth.

Lewis reveals: I was without power
In the post-race interview with Sky Sports Uk, Lewis Hamilton did not mince words to describe his Suzuka 2026: “The race was quite terrible because I was in third and ended up losing positions. I just need to understand where I was losing all the power. I had a real lack of power, in particular in the second stint but in general for the whole grand prix from the start. I couldn’t keep up with the others precisely because of the lack of power.”

Hamilton did not hide being confused about what happened, to the point of hypothesizing a problem with his SF-26: “I really don’t understand. I managed everything as requested, but for some reason today I lacked power. So I have to understand if there was something wrong with the car or not. But anyway, we scored some points.”
After the first three races of the world championship, Lewis Hamilton is currently fourth in the drivers’ standings with 41 points. Ahead of him are teammate Charles Leclerc at 49 and the two Mercedes of George Russell – at 63 – and championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli, at 72.
