Plans for the future
In Ferrari’s plans, the future of Ollie Bearman was supposed to be clear. To nurture the young English talent in Haas, help him grow, and then promote him to the red team at the right moment, perhaps after Lewis Hamilton’s retirement. However, the seven-time world champion, after a nightmare 2025, has raised his head this year and does not seem at all willing to end his career anytime soon, despite the fact that his ID shows he will be turning 42 in January.

Hamilton’s competitive longevity, however, could open up other opportunities for Bearman, who at this point risks not finding a place at Ferrari. Recently, paddock rumors have highlighted a possible interest from Red Bull in the young talent raised in FDA. This connection was suggested both by Sky Sport UK commentator David Croft and former German driver Ralf Schumacher and should not be surprising. The Red Bull team principal is now Laurent Mekies, who is the one who brought Bearman into the Ferrari Driver Academy.
Loyalty or temptation?
The person concerned, despite the affection and gratitude that inevitably bind him to the Maranello team, speaking during the Spa media day did not at all close the door to the possibility of joining the Red Bull galaxy; on the contrary, he seemed intrigued by the idea. “It is very flattering to hear things like that. A team like Red Bull has had incredible success, so being linked to them in any way, even just through rumors, is very pleasant. But, as I said, these are just rumors, and at the moment I am completely focused on what I am doing here with Haas,” Bearman said.

“Chance at Ferrari? I hope so – the Englishman added – I don’t have full say, but Ferrari trusted me from the start in Formula 3 and put me in their car also in 2024 (to replace Sainz in Saudi Arabia) and it is precisely thanks to that that I am here now. At the moment I am enjoying myself with Haas and the faster I can go now, the easier my life will be in the future.” The Brit finally added: “At the moment I don’t have a contract for next year. I am waiting, in the dark.” Potential suitors can come forward.
