MotoGP Barcelona, Qualifying Report
After securing the best time in Practice, Pedro Acosta repeats and ignites Montmeló with the second pole position of his career after Motegi 2024. Thanks to a stunning third sector, the Tiburón lines up everyone with a time of 1:38.068 and gives more than two tenths to the rest of the grid. For the Factory KTM team, this is a return to pole position after six years (the last was with Pol Espargaró in Valencia in 2020).

The positive surprise of the day is undoubtedly Franco Morbidelli, able to pass Q1 (also knocking out Francesco Bagnaia) and secure second place. A proud response from the Italo-Brazilian, whose future in the team and in MotoGP is seriously in question. Sly Alex Marquez, starting from P3, will have his say in both races having an important pace. Fabio Di Giannantonio also seems good, but he will start from P6, behind Raul Fernandez and Johann Zarco, who is finding consistency at high levels on a single lap.
Who struggles in the search for time is instead Aprilia: a confusing Saturday for Jorge Martin, who in Q1 asks to change bike only to then crash and return to the starting one, but evidently the feeling is not there as he only achieves ninth time; worse goes to Marco Bezzecchi, who fell in turn 2 with four minutes to go before the checkered flag. The World Championship leader will start 12th and will be forced into a chasing weekend. Behind him Bagnaia, out even in Q1, also disappoints Ai Ogura (18th). This quartet will perhaps shake up the two races on a track that does not offer many overtaking points.
