Ford will go on the offensive with the launch of five new cars in Europe by 2029, all inspired by its long tradition in the world of rallying, in an attempt to win back buyers in the region. Autocar reports, explaining that the new models will be positioned in the B and C segments and will include a “multi-energy” SUV inspired by the Bronco, a small electric hatchback that could revive the Fiesta name, and a crossover built on a Renault platform, as well as two additional electrified crossovers.
Ford, new models for Europe
The European head of the American car manufacturer, Jim Baumbick, explained in this regard: “We don’t just want to compete, we are here to play and win.” The new cars will arrive as part of a broader global strategy called “Ready Set Ford“, which aims to focus on key strengths where the Blue Oval company could differentiate itself from the competition. This includes a strong commitment to emphasize its off-road and high-performance credentials, infusing its models with a style and handling inspired by the world of rallying.
Starting with a “European Bronco”
As initially mentioned, the renewed European Ford range will be led by a new compact SUV that will be part of the “global Bronco family,” with a style inspired by the highly successful off-road vehicle in the US market. The new model will be produced starting in 2028 at the Valencia plant, alongside the current Kuga SUV, with which it is expected to share the Ford K2 platform. Regarding this, Baumbick promised that the new European Bronco will be faithful to the tradition of the US model, but will also be produced in Europe and developed with the European market in mind, adding that it will be a high-volume model. The company then confirmed plans for an electric sedan and crossover: they will be produced by Renault and will arrive in 2028.
