In the Thailand Sprint at the season debut Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta put on a show with a truly breathtaking duel that resulted in success in the Sprint due to the crash of Marco Bezzecchi, who slid out while leading the race.
A decision by Race Direction effectively decided the contest because Marc Marquez was forced to return the position to Acosta on the final lap after forcing him wide following an overtake.
On paper, the two will share the official Ducati garage starting next season; the only ‘asterisk’ not to be underestimated regarding this scenario is the actual continuation of Marc Marquez’s career. Regarding the 2027 Ducati dream team Mick Doohan stated that a teammate is a ‘non-issue’ when talking about great riders.

“I can speak from experience and I tell you that great riders don’t care who their teammate is – said Doohan when reached by the Spanish publication Marca – to win a race or a championship you have to beat everyone, including your teammate. Marc Marquez is focused on himself; the rider arriving in a team has more to worry about than the one who has already been there for some time. Acosta has incredible talent, he is doing great things with KTM, they are both Spanish and will want to beat each other at all costs, but it would be the same even if, for example, Bezzecchi arrived at Ducati instead of Acosta.”
