First zero
Fabio Di Giannantonio ended his first half of the 2026 season with a disappointment, taking a heavy ‘zero’ at the German GP at Sachsenring. This blank passage – the first of the year for the Roman rider – cannot, however, erase the good things Diggia has done so far. After 11 Grands Prix, the #49 of the VR46 team is in fact fifth in the World Championship just 24 points from the top and has also collected a historic victory at the Catalan GP in Barcelona.

Pains and aches
That success came after the race was stopped due to the terrible accident between Alex Marquez and Pedro Acosta, which also involved Diggia himself, who was ‘grazed’ by the runaway fork of Marquez’s bike. That impact – which could have had much worse outcomes – nevertheless caused a serious finger injury for the Roman rider and this complicated his race preparation path.
Speaking to Sky Sport MotoGP after the Sachsenring race, Di Giannantonio himself revealed for the first time that he has not been at his best condition since then and that he wants to take advantage of the summer break precisely to get his body ‘back in shape’.
“Now I have a nice break that will help me physically recover. After the finger injury I couldn’t push physically,” Diggia explained. The same Sachsenring crash, by the way, certainly did not help Di Giannantonio feel better: “I’m a bit stiff, I took some hits here and there, but I don’t want to cry at all, it’s part of the game. As I said, I have time to recover, I’m fine.”
