Cupra Born, the restyling is approaching

The restyling of the Cupra Born will be presented on March 5 and promises a fresher look, clearly inspired by the brand’s most recent models such as the Terramar and the Tavascan. Teaser images released by the Spanish manufacturer preview a new triangular-shaped rear light signature, while photos of prototypes spotted during testing reveal a similar approach at the front as well. Cupra’s strategy seems to be to bring the Born closer to the sharper and more decisive aesthetics of the group’s contemporary models.

Cupra Born towards the restyling

On the front of stylistic details, the front and rear bumpers should adopt a new, sharper design, in line with cars like the Leon and the Formentor, thus abandoning the soft and curvilinear lines that characterize the current Born. This change in formal language aims to give the car a more dynamic appearance consistent with the Cupra family.

At the moment it is not clear whether the restyling will also affect the mechanics or the driving electronics. According to Autocar, any technical updates could be limited considering that the Born is already substantially competitive compared to rivals today in terms of range and performance.

Interiors and technology

Cupra has, however, anticipated an improvement in interior quality, suggesting in this sense that the most significant changes will be concentrated in the cabin with new materials. The introduction of a new infotainment touchscreen and a revised climate control system is also plausible, following the Volkswagen Group’s trend towards a return to physical controls and classic buttons, as already anticipated by the Volkswagen ID Polo.
