More controversies
The new technical regulations, criticized several times during this season, came under scrutiny from many drivers also during the Silverstone weekend. Controversies, once again, were not lacking from multiple-time champions such as Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen, with the latter having already described the English track at the simulator as “a different circuit” compared to the one faced in previous years.

Indeed, the legendary Copse, Maggotts, and Becketts sections are now tackled at a lower speed, while Alonso believes that to overtake another driver talent is no longer enough, but only “pressing a button”. Yet, precisely Gabriel Bortoleto, the leading driver of Alonso’s A14 Management academy, does not share his ‘boss’s’ attacks on the new regulations and the characteristics of the cars.
Bortoleto endorses the cars
The Brazilian, who also brought Audi back into the points at Silverstone, has a rather different opinion on the matter and, in general, on F1: “I don’t think the magic of this sport is lost – he commented to RacingNews365 – we still take the Copse corner at a crazy speed, 280 km/h, and I still have to lift off the throttle to tackle it. It’s not fully exploited and we are not getting the most out of the available grip. Last year the concept was different, but I think we should move forward. These are the current regulations and, if people keep complaining, we just have to change; these will be the rules we have until 2030.”

“We will talk about it again when we get to 2030 and the new regulations – he added – but we can’t spend three years discussing the same thing. In the end, things are like this: the cars are still fun to drive, even if different; we have to adapt, that’s life.”
