The near knock-out at Silverstone
In the last British Grand Prix, all conditions seemed to favor Andrea Kimi Antonelli to catch up and overtake Charles Leclerc, taking the lead in the final stages of the race. The comeback at Silverstone, however, was denied by a sudden and mysterious technical problem with the Mercedes, with the 19-year-old from Bologna refusing to bring the car back to the pits to retire.

The master Schumacher
Despite steering problems and difficulties keeping the car on track, Antonelli finished 15th, a result also affected by a time penalty for repeatedly exceeding track limits. The #12 therefore encountered problems managing the damaged car, unlike what the seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher was able to do. This was the opinion of former Alpine team principal Otmar Szafnauer, who reiterated that Antonelli will have to learn from the German champion in this regard in order to earn valuable points to aim for the world title:

“This could be part of learning the sport, it’s part of his growth in the sport. It could be just like that – he commented on the High Performance Racing podcast – I can say that Michael Schumacher was a genius at this, at bringing the car to the finish line no matter what. I mean, there were races where he only had fifth gear left, and he brought the car to the finish. He was really, really good. There are some drivers who are good at this and others who, in my opinion, need to learn. I’m not saying Kimi isn’t, but it could be something he needs to learn in the future. And once you do, you’ll have another arrow in your quiver that will help you win those world championships.”
