A few weeks after the market launch of the new iX3, BMW is expanding the family with the entry-level variant iX3 40, which introduces the sixth-generation eDrive technology designed for the Neue Klasse. This version adopts an electrically excited synchronous motor on the rear axle, which develops 235 kW (320 hp) and 500 Nm of torque, allowing a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,9 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h. All components of the drivetrain are designed for the 800 V architecture, with a marked focus on efficiency.

New BMW iX3 40
The energy heart of the iX3 40 is a high-voltage battery with a usable capacity of 82,6 kWh, based on cylindrical lithium-ion cells integrated according to the cell-to-pack approach. Compared to the previous generation, the cells offer about 20% more energy density. Thanks to the pack-to-open-body construction, the battery becomes a structural part of the body, reducing overall materials and weight. This set of solutions allows the German manufacturer’s electric SUV to reach a WLTP range of up to 635 km.

Very fast charging
On the charging front, the new iX3 40 offers very fast times. The maximum DC charging power reaches 300 kW, allowing for up to 300 km of range to be recovered in about 10 minutes and going from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes with an 800 V DC station. In alternating current the car supports up to 11 kW as standard, with the option for 22 kW AC charging which allows a full charge in about 4 hours and 15 minutes. Bidirectional charging functions are also planned. The new BMW iX3 40 will be available in Italy from summer 2026 starting from 63.900 euros.
