A touching dedication
Marco Bezzecchi puts on a show on the track, who is the leader of the MotoGP world championship standings, but he also knows how to amaze and move people off the track. Before getting on the bike for the FP2 session at Mugello, the Rimini rider for Aprilia showed the cameras his special helmet for this weekend, giving motorsport fans a real heartwarming moment.

Paying tribute to the late Alex Zanardi

Bez has in fact decided to pay tribute to Alex Zanardi, who passed away last May 1st, by recreating on his helmet the iconic livery of the Bolognese driver. With that helmet Zanardi won two Champ Car titles, in 1997 and 1998, and became an icon in Italy as well as in America thanks also to the wonderful overtaking – dated 1996 – on Bryan Herta at Laguna Seca, at the Corkscrew corner. A special gesture from Bezzecchi, on a track that is also linked to Zanardi’s career: in 1991, in fact, the then 25-year-old Zanardi won a F3000 International race at Mugello, making a name for himself just months before what would be his debut in F1 with Jordan.
